Ed Thompson Locked in Tight Race for State Senate

Libertarian-turned-Republican Ed Thompson is locked in a tight battle for Wisonsin State Senate, trailing incumbent Kathleen Vinehout by only 16 votes!

With 18 of 156 precincts fully reported, Thompson has 2,128 votes to Vinehout’s 2,144 votes.

For those who don’t remember, Thompson is the brother of former Wisconsin governor and Presidential candidate Tommy Thompson.   

Ed Thompson has served as the mayor of Tomah and was the Libertarian Party’s nominee for governor in 2002, winning 185,455 votes or 10.5% in a hotly contested three-way race. Now, running as a Republican, he stands a very good chance of winning a seat in the Wisconsin Senate.
