Failing to secure enough delegates to capture the Green Party’s presidential nomination last weekend at the Green national convention in Baltimore, actress and activist Roseanne Barr decided not to make an appearance at the event. Instead, following the state-by-state balloting that lead to the nomination of Jill Stein for President, Roseanne’s delegation coordinator Farheen Hakeem took to the stage to offer her preferred candidate’s concession speech.
After an uncomfortable silence while Hakeem played with her cellphone in front of the crowd for several minutes, the prominent Minnesota Green delivered a fiery rant that seems to underscore a growing and potentially explosive rift within the party.
