Campaign Ad Watch: Meg Whitman Loves Porn?

With the California primary coming up on Tuesday, the staggering multi-million dollar air war between Republican gubernatorial hopefuls Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner continues.

Poizner and Whitman are both multi-millionaires (actually, Whitman is a billionaire) who made their money from tech companies. And they haven’t been afraid to put their personal cash to use in the ongoing slug-fest.

I previously wrote about a slate of Poizner ads that pounded Whitman on the topic of illegal immigration.

The latest ad to catch some national attention is one from the Poizner campaign that slams Whitman’s time as CEO of eBay, the online auction giant. The TV spot suggests that Whitman profited off of the sale of pornography while banning guns from the site.

To me, this seems a bit silly. Voters are smarter than this and Poizner smells desperate. His poll numbers have started to stall out and he needs something, anything to stick to Whitman prior to Tuesday’s vote. I honestly campaign imagine tech-savvy Californians falling for the notion that eBay is the world’s biggest porn site.

Judge for yourself…
