Congressman Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) is throwing a Hail Mary pass to try to hang onto his seat.
The nine-term Representative has hit the air with a message that sounds more like a bid to reconnect with an old girlfriend than a serious political commercial.
“I know you’re angry with Washington,” he says at the start of the 60-second spot, in which Pomeroy reintroduces himself to voters in the district.
“I know I’ve disappointed ya with a vote, here or there,” he continues. “But you can always count on the fact that I do what I do for the right reason.”
It’s less about the words and more about the tone of Pomeroy’s voice and the music behind it. He sounds like he was caught cheating and is now trying to convince his best gal that he’s changed his ways.
