Rhode Island’s Independent State Senator Re-Elected

edwardoneillThe lone independent in the Rhode Island State Senate, Edward O’Neill, has won re-election tonight with 6,106 votes or about 62%. He defeated Democratic challenger Keven McKenna.

O’Neill was first elected to the Rhode Island Senate back in 2008 and has now been re-elected three times.

Another independent candidate, Blake Filippi, won an upset victory for a seat in the Rhode Island assembly earlier tonight.
